Holidays Unpackaged

Holidays Unpackaged

You may have seen our new adverts on the tv.
It features welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert travelling around Wales finding out about how holidays are changing.
[If you didn't see the tv advert, you can watch it here]

We also filmed 4 exclusive web films which are now available on the holidays unpackaged section of the visitwales.co.uk website.

The topics of the 4 web films are:
Local Food in Wales
Activities in Wales
Made in Wales
Learn and do in Wales

Find out more about the advert, the web films, and more at Holidays Unpackaged

There's also a great post on the Visit Wales blog about the Holidays Unpackaged campaign with loads more information including where the advert was recorded, who Rhod is, and where he stayed.

Happy New Year!

Hello,
It's been a bit quiet here of late because of Christmas obviously,
and also due to a major campaign we are all working on behind the scenes here at Visit Wales.
All will be revealed on the 14th of January,
so watch this space...

WINNERS!!!

Last night was Canmol - The Chartered Institute of Marketing's first ever Welsh marketing awards [Canmol is Welsh for praise, by the way!]

From the 60 initial entries, a panel of judges whittled them down to a select 15.
5 of those entries were given awards for their fantastic and innovative use of marketing.

That's right, 1 of those 5 was the all singing, all dancing, multi channel, full integrated online activity tourism awesomeness that is Wales1000things.

Obviously we are all very pleased, and would like to thank the Academy, our Commander in Chief Gill and all of our families for their patience and ongoing support.
Cheers!

We've made a mistake - we're only human.

You may have noticed this error in our new Wales Active magazine.

I looked after the production and print of the magazine and during the proofing process this mistake made it past four separate pairs of eyes, mine included. I suppose during the final proofing we all focussed on the spelling instead of the context.

Sometimes with all the proof reading in the world these things sneak through and I can only apologies to the good folk of Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower and to all those working hard to draw visitors to it's lovely coastline.

Of course we knew these three beautiful beaches are on the Gower Peninsula and not in Pembrokeshire.

Jon on our team lives on Gower and spends tons of his time windsurfing and paragliding in the area.

In short, it's a genuine error that I feel pretty awful about, especially as this has now escalated to be featured in the local press and BBC website.

My team mates have offered to take me out for a drink to regale me with tales of their own of marketing faux pas in the hope that it will make me feel better.

Better make it large one ;)

I'm looking for a place to stay and things to do in Wales!

I get loads of emails asking me for recommendations for places to stay and things to do in Wales. With so much stuff going on and loads of great places to spend the night, it's very difficult for me to reply to these specifically.

So the best places to start looking for answers to these types of questions would be the places to stay in Wales and things to do in Wales search functions on visitwales.co.uk

Or check out the recommendations on The Visit Wales Official Blog
