About Wales1000things.
Wales1000things is a ‘user generated content’ driven website.

Ok, so what does that mean?

Well, everything on wales1000things.com has been submitted by real people just like you.
People, who have visited Wales, had fun and want to show others what they got up to.
Like a giant online photo album for everyone to flick through and add to!

This is our first journey into this type of website, having been inspired by the likes of youtube.com and flickr.com.  As a four man team working for Visit Wales venturing into the relative unknown of “web 2.0” we are all very excited about this campaign and what it will achieve.

So add some good stuff and enjoy yourself!

The Visitwales Activities Team

About the Team
El CaptainName: Jon
Team Title: El Capitan.
Likes: 24, Lycra and Polyalphabetic substitution ciphers.
Dislikes: Traffic on the M4 and nonchalance.

Jon is the big cheese of the activities department. He makes sure everything is running smoothly and that the creatives aren’t losing touch with reality - or the budget! Jon loves a good Excel sheet and knows a thing or two about complex multi-workbook formulae.

When he’s not in the office, you might find Jon on his road bike somewhere on Gower or paragliding somewhere over Gower. Failing that, he’ll be in his local…

If you catch Jon away from the office and the outdoors you might find him catching up with Jack Bauer on 24, working on the Beale cipher, or, given he is getting married this year, refining his speech for the big day.
Magic Darts.

The Crayons & Daps kidName: Beth
Team Title: The Crayons & Daps kid – loves active and arty stuff equally.
Really  likes: Tony Soprano, Burnt sausages and dancing
Dislikes: the clocks turning back and the use of Latin to sum things up.

Beth looks after the roll out of marketing materials, so websites, magazines, exhibitions, inserts, direct mail, press ads etc. Her chart of choice is a Gantt chart (or timeline), this, we think is because it helps her know what day of the week she’s in.

She is a bit of an oddball mix of dippy and methodical.

In the winter months, when the nights are long Beth pursues all forms of aestheticism: contemporary dance, world cinema, sculpture. Her apartment smells of rich mahogany and she has many leather bound books.

Come Summer time, she loves a bit of surfing, pint size triathlons, barbecues and beer gardens. A bit of a militant Swampy in the office, Beth likes picking on people who won’t ‘lean green’. There’s just no excuse.

She’s recently bought a house with a young un, so her weekends are spent at B&Q and salvage reclamation yards in Newport.
You stay classy.

King of the InterwebName: Bryn
Team Title: ‘King of the Interwebs’ aka The Moderator.
Likes: Pizza, Zombie movies and Pirates
Dislikes: slow internet connections, asparagus and pop music.

As the internets first faux monarch, Bryn regularly fields questions from his loyal subjects such as “what is Google’s web address?” and “How do you spell Hotmail?” so turning his attention to a revolutionary Welsh activities website was a welcome change.

A self confessed geek, Bryn’s favourite activities are jumping to conclusions, pushing his luck, travelling the blogosphere and riding his bike.

In his spare time, Bryn likes to trawl the internet for humorous Venn diagrams and graphs, listen to obscure 70’s lounge music and play ‘Guitar Hero.’
Long live the King.

Mr FishName: Rhys
Team Title: Mr Fish
Likes: Fishing, Landrovers, Rugby and Beer
Dislikes: Footballers and their WAGs, the A470, rules and Facebook.

Rhys works from home in North Wales. In fact if you've ever been to Coed y Brenin mountain bike centre, you're in his neck of the woods, he lives about 500yds up the road.

A proud father of two very naughty boys and the proud owner of a large plot of land, he's always busy either keeping the kids in check or strimming his 9 acres.

He recently pledged to be the only person on Earth not on Facebook, but feels his curiosity may get the better of him as he'll want to check what all those hundreds of ex-girlfriends really say about him!

He's currently renovating a boat which he hopes one day to finish and use in pursuit of fish.
And to top it all off, he drives a Prius!
Eco a go-go!
